The Canadian Payments Association has a new set of standards that come into effect September 2, 2008. These changes affect the processing of all business cheques in Canada.
Key requirements are:
-
A numeric date field must be located in a standard position and must include a guide indicating one of three compliant formats (YYYYMMDD, DDMMYYYY or MMDDYYYY).
-
Standard positions for key information such as the date and amount in numbers.
-
Removal of all elements that could interfere with cheque scanning.
-
A layout that ensures that security measures do not overlap key data zones.
In addition, there are a number of technical changes necessary aimed at ensuring a high quality cheque image.
Unfortunately, these new requirements can not be accomodated in Accpac Plus. This means that businesses still using Accpac Plus need to act quickly to ensure no complications arise relating to these new standards.
If you are still using Accpac Plus, please contact us to discuss your options.
